| The
Girl Scout cookie sale is a once-a-year optional program
opportunity for girls to develop skills in goal-setting,
money handling and communicating with adults. Each
box of
cookies helps to pay for activities and contributes toward
Girl Scout programming for over 6,500 girls in the
council.
In addition to maintaining
Camp Adahi, the Girl Scout resident camp, last year cookies
provided scholarships for many girls to attend summer resident
camp and financial assistance for 920 girls with membership
fees. All council-sponsored programs are subsidized through
the council operating budget to keep program registration
and camping fees low.
Sales
went over the top!
With the help
of dedicated girls, troop leaders, parents and customers,
the Girl Scouts of Moccasin Bend Council had a fantastic
year, selling over 557,328 boxes!
Cookies = Dollars for
Troops
As troops participate in the cookie sale, they
are providing a service to their council and, at the same
time, earning troop funds for their own special projects.
Last year, girls earned a troop profit of $271,138.56
plus incentives (patches, tee shirts and cookie credits
that
can be applied toward the purchase of handbooks, uniforms,
badges, materials, program events and Camp Adahi).
REMINDERThe last day to use 2007 year cookie
credits is Dec. 5, 2007, 6pm. No exceptions.

Little
Brownie Bakers
Do
Elves really
bake Girl
Scout Cookies?
The Girl Scout Cookie Sale
is a time-honored tradition. It goes back to the 1920's when Girl
Scouts baked their own cookies and sold them out of baskets in their
neighborhoods to support their troop activities. Today, Little Brownie
Bakers is the supplier of cookies for the Girl Scouts of Moccasin
Bend Council cookie sale and to many other Girl Scout councils.
Little Brownie Bakers is owned by Keebler (so maybe Elves do bake
the cookies!).
Each
year, Girl Scouts across the country sell enough cookies to circle
the earth--that's nearly 175 million boxes of cookies. Somewhere
around the country, Girl Scout Cookies are being sold at this
moment. Little Brownie Bakers uses the following ingredients in
the production of Girl Scout cookies each week:

Girl
Scout Cookies contain no preservatives, are made with 100% vegetable
shortening and are Kosher. |
